In a shocking incident in south Delhi's Chittaranjan Park, two masked men on bikes shot at a car, narrowly missing the front passenger seated next to the driver, police informed

The bullet pierced through the car's window, injuring the driver's finger. The incident took place on Thursday night.

Police have registered a case of firing and attempted murder against the unidentified assailants. Further investigation is underway.

One man travelling in the car is suspected of running a betting operation in Sangam Vihar, but the police have not confirmed it. They are investigating personal enmity and business rivalry angles.

Deputy commissioner of police (south) Chandan Chowdhary told Hindustan Times that on Thursday evening at 8.14 pm, the police control room received a call regarding firing at C-block in CR Park in which one person was injured. A police team went there and learnt that two people named Sachin Gupta and Waseem Ahmed were travelling in a car.

"Gupta was driving the car and talking on the phone. All of a sudden there was a single round shot from the driver's side. The bullet pierced through the driver's side window and injured Gupta's finger. Further enquiry revealed that two persons with their faces covered were following the car on a bike. We are probing the case further," added DCP Chowdhary.
