Cincinnati Reds style of play, team building find way into Cincinnati Bengals meetings

Think people around town aren’t feeling the impact of the way the Cincinnati Reds play the game?
The hard-charging, ultra-aggressive young Reds might even be starting to have an impact on the big boys over at the stadium an Elly De La Cruz stone’s throw from Great American Ball Park.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor went to the Reds game against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night and spent some time apparently raving about the first-place Reds with manager David Bell.

“He shared that some of the way we’re playing, some of the things that are being said postgame or pregame have actually been shared with their team,” Bell said.
“To hear that was, like, ‘Wow.’ “
Bell suggested it was especially high praise coming from the team that electrified the region with that Super Bowl run a couple of years ago.
“This is a team that truly inspired our team and all of us, but really an entire city,” Bell said. “I’ve been here for all of that, and (along with) my family and my friends how much those teams have meant to all of us.
“To hear that was a reminder of the bigger picture of what we’re trying to do.”
Division-leading play and long winning streaks, sure — not to mention rare June sellouts for games Friday night and Saturday against the Atlanta Braves.
But for a team in town like the NFL-contender Bengals to see in the Reds something worth modeling, if not something to see as teaching tools or motivation?
“Those things are important to our team, like playing a certain way that people can appreciate and maybe even learn from or just feel good about watching,” Bell said. “So I shared that with our team.”
Bell said he hopes to build on his relationship with Taylor.
“Just to be able to share ideas and learn from him would be something I hope continues for a long time,” Bell said.
