Three held with 54 gram MDMA

Thiruvananthapuram: Excise officers arrested three persons with 54 gram MDMA during a vehicle inspection at Amaravila excise check-post on Thursday morning.
The arrested have been identified by excise officers as Nikhil Lal, 33, alias Pappu of Kadakampally and Rahul, 29, of Aanayara and Nasif, 26, of Kulathupuzha, Kollam.
About 46.454 gram MDMA was seized from Nikhil and Rahul and 7.5 gram of MDMA was seized from Nasif. The trio was travelling in a bus which was coming from Nagercovil and the excise officers said the accused had bought the drug from Bengaluru for sale here. After reaching Nagercoil, they boarded a bus to Thiruvananthapuram and Nasif was planning to board another bus to Kollam.
During vehicle inspection, the officers noticed their strange behavior, so they checked their bags and seized the drugs from them. They have been remanded after producing before a magistrate court on section 22-C of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act. “The accused have been in the business for years and the investigation centering them has been progressing to find out more links in the chain,” excise officials said.
