IMD expects rain for 7 days in Delhi, yellow alert for June 25-27

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain for the next seven days. It has put out a yellow alert (be aware) for June 25-27 as light to moderate showers are likely.
Some parts of the capital saw light showers on Thursday morning.
According to IMD, the maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was reported at 27.6 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity oscillated from 54% to 92%.
Safdarjung, which is the city's base station, logged 2.4mm of rainfall till 8.30 am. Ayanagar, Najafgarh, Jafarpur, Ridge and Lodhi Road reported 26.2, 23.5, 6, 4.2 and 1.8mm rainfall, respectively, till 8.30 am. Only trace rainfall was recorded from 8.30 am and 5.30 pm at Safdarjung and Palam.
Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist and head of the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in IMD, said: "At present, there is a trough line from Punjab till Uttar Pradesh, which is bringing moisture to Delhi and leading to light rain. Easterly winds would bring more moisture from June 25 onwards and light to moderate rain is expected. Some parts of northwest India may receive heavy rain."
The forecast of the Met department said the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 39 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Friday with the possibility of very light rain. There are chances of very light rain on Saturday also. However, the IMD has issued the yellow alert from Sunday to Tuesday as light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected.
