Dibrugarh: While addressing a public meeting organised as part of BJP’s ‘Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan’ at Duliajan on Thursday, Union Minister of ports, shipping & waterways and Ayush,
Sarbananda Sonowal took a dig at
Rahul Gandhi for the “anti-India” remarks he recently made and questioned his commitment to serve his country.
Sonowal said, “Unlike Congress, BJP has an ideology to serve the nation. Our founding fathers said that all our ‘karyakartas’ are bound the powerful ideology of nation first, party second, self last. This is what makes BJP - the party with a difference, in contrast to Congress whose politics thrives on discrimination and division. When Rahul Gandhi made negative remarks on Bharat Mata during his recent visit abroad, it was not from a person who is a servant of the nation or apatriot. If Rahul Gandhi wants to serve the country, then here is my free advice to him: if you love your country, the first and foremost duty is to serve Bharat Mata with complete commitment and devotion. Congress yet again has failed the people of India with such comments against our own country.”
Speaking further on India’s accession at the global stage, Sonowal said, “Under the dynamic leadership of
Narendra Modi, India has made substantial gain in its stature as a nation with immense potential as well as a growing economic power contributing to the world economy. Yesterday, the entire world joined India to perform Yoga with an aim to enrich their quality of life. Modi ji vision is to celebrate the rich heritage of India, to help the world become healthier. ”
Highlighting the public welfare chemes undertaken by the BJP government, Sonowal said the schemes have overshadowed the Congress government’s rule.
Speaking about
Assam and Northeast India’s growth, Sonowal said, “The progress and development of Assam and Northeast India has always been Modi ji’s priority. As he identified our region as the ‘Asta Lakshmi’ of India, the role of the Northeast India in India’s growth has become imminent. Gone are the days when the people of Northeast lived in despair due to lack of attention by consecutive Congress governments. Assam and the Northeast are now a priority as plans like Act East policy, peace process and economic resurgence are afoot.”
Sonowal further encouraged the party workers to get ready for the upcoming elections. He asked the party workers to carry out public awareness campaigns to inform everyone about the welfare programmes .
