Karnataka: Mandya villager stabs his kids aged 4, 2, assaults wife

MANDYA/CHIKKAMANGALURU: A villager allegedly killed his two children and brutally assaulted his wife at Maralagala village in Srirangapatna.
Mandya police said that Srikanth, a resident of Hanur village of Jevargi taluk in Kalaburagi district, hit his two children Darshan,4, and Amulya,2, and his wife Lakshmi with a sharp object. While the kids died on the spot, Lakshmi, who sustained grievous injuries, was shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru, the police said.
According to police, 15 days back Lakshmi along with her two children had arrived at her father’s house located in Maralagala village owing to a family feud.
Mohan Kumar, Lakshmi’s father, worked as a labourer on a farm. Srikanth, who arrived at the farm on Wednesday allegedly killed his two children before gruesomely attacking his wife. The motive for the crime is yet to be known, the police said.
Following the incident, senior police officers visited the spot and conducted the mahazar. Meanwhile, the bodies of the two children have been shifted to KR Hospital in Mysuru for postmortem. Srirangapatna Rural Police have registered a case and are investigating.
C’magaluru police solve murder case in 20 days
The Chikkamagaluru district police have unravelled the mystery behind a murder within 20 days with the arrest of two youths from Dakshina Kannada district for their alleged involvement in the crime. Rizwan and Zainul of Bantwal allegedly murdered Mahamad Savad, said the police.

The duo had killed Savad at Bengre in Padubidre in DK district. Later, they dumped the dead body at Devaramane forest area in Mudigere taluk in Chikkamagaluru district. A few villagers noticed the dead body on June 8, and Savad’s parents had identified the dead body.
Following the incident, Chikkamagaluru superintendent of police Uma Prashanth had formed a team to investigate the case.
Team led by CI solve case
The team, led by Mudigere circle inspector of police Somashekar and Bankal sub-inspector Jamburaj Mahajan, were successful in cracking the case.
The police picked up the accused from Guruvayankere in Beltangadi taluk, DK district. The police arrested the duo based on technical evidence, the police said.
According to the police, the trio were friends and involved in dealing with narcotics. They developed differences in business and thus the duo eliminated Savad, the cops said.
