Odisha officer throws Rs 2 crore cash on neighbour’s terrace during raid by anti-corruption squad
BHUBANESWAR: The additional sub-collector of Nabarangpur district, Prasant Kumar Rout, has landed in trouble for allegedly possessing huge disproportionate assets. The Odisha Vigilance officials on Friday seized over Rs 2 crore in cash concealed in six carton boxes from the terrace of Rout’s neighbour in Kanan Vihar area of Bhubaneswar.
Vigilance sources said Rout reportedly threw the boxes onto his neighbour’s terrace when the sleuths raided his house in the capital city early morning.
“Simultaneous searches are being conducted at 9 locations, including his house at HIG-115, Kanan Vihar, Bhubaneswar, another house at Nabarangpur, his office chamber and parental house in Bhadrak district. This apart, searches are being conducted at 5 other locations of acquaintances of Rout,” a senior vigilance officer said.
