Three pelted stones ‘for fun’ at bus on Samruddhi eway

Nagpur: Three persons, Shubham Hande, Ram Hande and Madhav Walke, who were arrested last week for pelting stones at a Vidarbha Travels bus, have claimed they did it just for fun after feasting at a dabha on Karanja-Pinjar Road.
The three had pelted two stones from an over-bridge near Karanja on the bus heading to Pune from Nagpur. One of the stones crashed through the windscreen of the bus and struck one of the passengers, Dayaram Rathod, seated beside the driver.

The bus driver had immediately alerted local police at Washim and also the highway patrol.
SP Washim Bacchhan Singh said the three were picked up on the basis of CCTV footage and local human intelligence. “We had started visiting and inquiring at roadside dhabas and hotels. The CCTV footage showed three persons were heading towards Samruddhi Mahamarg. We could zero down upon them with the help of local inputs,” said Singh. He added the three did not have any crime records. The court has granted police custody remand of the three till July 23. tnn
