Oil companies should stop selling petroleum products across the US from tomorrow so that the environment can start improving. I'm sure people of Portland and Multnomah County don't mind walking everywhere or cycling or using their electric cars. Any vehicles that run on gas or diesel that do city services also cannot run. If the power plants run on coal or gas, they are a no no too. Let's support their desire to get rid of fossil fuels starting tomorrow, no more wasting time to become green.

I love the fact that i own Petrobras(PBR) oil company stock. Nobody can sue/ threaten them like in europe/ US.

Green propaganda! Man made climate change is hoax! I laugh daily how some greenies think that you can power entire world with wind and solar- how gullible one can be? More power to oil.
M
Absolute nonsense, I don't know where to begin, big left wing government type nonsense, the US really needs to get rid of Biden and have a different sort of government asap.

I wonder what the temperature in their houses would have been without the natural gas burning to create electricity that cooled their houses down to 70 or lower . Many people would have died if it wasn’t for the natural gas supplied by the oil companies.. and that’s who they want to sue??

Let Portland run without gas in Portland. It is a cesspool.

Another climate change alarmist lawsuit against big oil. They really think that extreme temperatures and heat are unique to just one county in Oregon. What a farce and fraud these people are. Look at many other Western states to include, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Idaho, and Wyoming to name a few where ongoing droughts and high summer temperatures have persisted for many years now. Also Midwest farmers are facing drought and reduced crop yield for corn, soybeans, and wheat. And many cattle ranchers in Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, and New Mexico have had to reduce the size of their beef cattle herds due to lack of rain and moisture. The city of Portland is no model for the rest of the country to follow, considering their lawlessness and riots in the past few years. What about Oregon's forest fires every summer due to poor forest management. Should other states sue them for the smoke that drifts over into those states from those same fires? Chevron is right, this lawsuit is baseless, and unconstitutional. No matter which side of this issue you are on, fossil fuels provide necessary benefits to society (used to make thousands of consumer products), that are not easily replaced!

Dear Seeking Alpha...Carl Surran's articles are shallow lefty clickbait pieces, always political, mostly pointless, with little or nothing to do with the economics of the companies he covers.

Seems fair. Number one rule of capitalism - you have to pay to clean up your own mess! Anything else is communism.
R
@El Scorcho Seems fair huh..If the entire country had logic like this we would be concurred by Pakistan by 2025..

The heat in June 2021 was the residual of nightly riot fires in the streets of Portland throughout 2020. Took that long for things to cool back down.

Until there are real penalties from bringing frivolous lawsuits this insanity will continue.

No one in Oregon drives. No one in Oregon use their trucks. It's everybody's else's fault. I bet everyone walks to work.

Simple extortion by democrats who can't resist a chance to steal the money of others to fund their pathetically failed policies just so they can maintain their power!!!!!!!
