Youth dies in Khanna allegedly because of 'drug overdose'

LUDHIANA: A youth of GTB Nagar on Lalheri road in Khanna, who was allegedly hooked to liquor and drugs, died under mysterious circumstances on the roof of his home.
The deceased was identified as around 20-years-old Bittu Kumar.
Sunita Devi, mother of the deceased told cops that she has two sons and three daughters and the deceased was her elder son. She suggested that Bittu was addicted to drugs and would drink alcohol as well. She added that her son came home and went to sleep on the roof of the house without having dinner on Wednesday and on Thursday she went to wake him and ask him to go to work but he kept sleeping.
Mother of the deceased suggested that after that she called her brother-in-law, they then took her son to government hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
She added that she feels that her son died because of drugs.
Meanwhile, after getting information about the death of youth, cops from Khanna city One police station reached the spot and started probe into the matter.
Investigating officer of the case, ASI Suraj Din said that they have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of CrPc into the matter on the statement of Phool Chand Paswan, father of the deceased.

He added that post mortem and viscera report will reveal about the cause of death of the deceased.
