THANE: As many as 12 families staying in a ground-plus two-storey Sai Sapna building in Kalwa had to be evacuated and rehabilitated in a nearby civic school on Wednesday, after a huge portion of its second floor roof collapsed, officials said.
Yasin Tadvi, in-charge at the Thane regional disaster management cell, said they were alerted about the incident reported at the building located in Kharegaon area of Kalwa around 1.30pm.
"A part of the terrace had collapsed making the remaining structure look unstable. We reached the spot and immediately evacuated 12 families staying in the structure as a precautionary measure," informed Tadvi.
