PRAYAGRAJ: A noble facility, which will not let any abandoned new-born babies left unattended and provide them with a new home, was inaugurated at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital of Sangam City on Wednesday.
This state-of-the-art cradle will be installed for those new born babies who are thrown in the garbage heap or elsewhere for any reason. This noble work will be done by Maa Bhagwati Vikas Sansthan, a
Rajasthan based organisation, which has been entrusted with the responsibility from the state government to develop shelter places in the hospitals affiliated to different medical colleges of the state.
Member of Parliament from Phulpur, Keshari Devi Patel and MP from Allahabad Rita Bahuguna Joshi inaugurated the facility in the presence of principal of the college, Dr SP Singh.
While inaugurating the cradle both the MP's appealed public that if an unwanted child is born in any family, they should neither kill the baby or throw it here and there as without disclosing their identity, they can leave the baby in this cradle. They said that the family members or the individual should be assured that their identity will be kept secret and no legal action will be taken against them.
On this occasion, the co-provincial campaigner of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Munish ji, said that every unwanted new-born has the right to live through the shelter sites. Along with this, the interested couple will be able to complete their family by adopting these innocent children as per law. Due to which they will get an opportunity to develop with affection and respect in a healthy, safe and happy environment and with good upbringing.
Principal of the Medical College, Dr SP Singh detailed about the functioning of the cradle. Dr Singh said that the shelter is equipped with high-tech motion sensors, so that the bell will automatically ring in the labor room of the hospital after two minutes of leaving the baby in the cradle. In this two minutes time, the person leaving the baby will be able to easily leave from there safely and this will also keep their identity confidential. He said that as soon as the bell rings in the labor room of the hospital, the medical worker will immediately receive the baby from the shelter and take care of him or her medically and personally, such as feeding, cleaning, dressing in clean clothes, etc. Once the child is healthy, the baby will be immediately sent to the nearest state-recognised child care home.
Yog Guru Devendra Agarwal, founder director of Jeevan Sanrakshan Abhiyan, Maheshashram, Maa Bhagwati Vikas Sansthan, Udaipur said that the child received in the shelter home will be declared legally free for adoption by the District Child Welfare Committee as per law. The adoption process of the child will be done by the Central Adoption Resource Authority.
