Jaipur: Chief secretary Usha Sharma on Wednesday chaired a meeting at the secretariat regarding important pending railway projects. Sharma said at the meeting that in nine important projects between the state and the North-Western Railway, there has been a delay due to land acquisition and other reasons. She said these issues should be resolved quickly with mutual coordination so that the work on the projects could be speeded up.
Sharma gave necessary instructions to the district collectors regarding land acquisition and issuance of 20-A and 20-E notification of the land. As land acquisition mainly comes under the purview of the state government, the projects can pick up pace only after land is made available to the railways.
A positive development pointed out in the meeting was the defreezing of the much delayed Ratlam-Dungarpur via Banswara new line project (188.85 km).
General manager of North Western Railway, Vijay Sharma, principal secretary PWD Vaibhav Galaria, commissioner transport and road safety, Kanhaiyalal Swami, attended the meeting. ACS (revenue department) Aparna Arora, ACS (forest and environment) Shikhar Agarwal and other senior officials, including district collectors, participated through video conferencing.
