Unbeaten Shaunak, Swara win U-11 chess titles
Nagpur: Shaunak Badole and Swara Gandhi remained unbeaten to win the Nagpur district U-11 open and girls’ chess championship titles respectively. The tournament organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation concluded at the Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway.
In the eight-round open category, Shaunak finished on top of the table collecting 7.5 points while Sahajveer Singh Maras (6.5) and Kushagra Paliwal (6) finished second and third.
Similarly, in the six-round girls section, eight-year-old Swara won all the games she played to dominate the tournament with full six points and emerge champion. Yashika Musale (5) and Anushka Deshpande (4.5) followed Swara on the podium.
Shaunak and Sahajveeer in the open group while Swara and Yashika in the girls section will represent Nagpur in the forthcoming Maharashtra State U-11 chess championship scheduled at Pune from July 28 to 30.
The prizes were distributed by Shekhar Suryawanshi superintendent CGST. On the ocassion members of CAN were present.

OPEN: Shaunak Badole (7.5, 39), Sahejveer Singh Maras (6.5, 38), Paliwal Kushagra (6, 34), Vansh Bhutada (6, 33.5), Priyanshu Chaudhuri (5.5, 37).
GIRLS: Swara Gandhi (6, 19), Yashika Musale (5, 19.5), Anushka Deshpande (4.5, 21), Simran Tijare (4.5, 16.5), Amulyaa Chaudhari (4, 21.5).
