Thank you Lina Khan. A small unassuming woman who has more spine than all the posers in the news. Even if you lose this, just going to the mat with MSFT will chill out all the future mergers.

These mergers have reduced competition in the past. You single handedly are doing more for free market capitalism than all the fake capitalists posers who will fall on their knees and kiss anyone's behind for a dollar.

Let's see if the FTC has any teeth or if restraint of trade prevails despite changing the name of the restraint of trade. The bureaucrat running the FTC sees 'monopolies' under every bush. So, if the FTC wins -- MSFT will be flooded with perspective gaming companies seeking to replace Activision as a new target in order to prosper under MSFT's umbrella.

But, a victory by the FTC will enable those governmental pawns to high five each other at the New Years party and the head of the FTC can explore political opportunities in new and different areas of government.

So, the taxpayers will, once again, pay the freight in one form or the other until the criteria to get what MSFT wants becomes apparent. It's all a farce..

Appropriately, MSFT’s lead lawyer is Jennifer Walters. Watch out. :0)

Is the market betting that Microsoft will win in court against the FTC?

@DadRuss72 one gets its resources through sales the other through theft

Some people complain about Monopoly's in the US and some people complain about over regulation. The FTC's job is to make sure there is fair and healthy competition in the marketplace and not long term barriers to entry creating market dominance that have so much scale that no other company can compete. Look at what happened in the past with the Cable Industry (lack of competition, higher prices), Energy (lack of real competition), Walmart (killed local mom & Pops), etc..

It is crazy that the FTC listens to PlayStation (owned by Japanese company) which is the dominant player and only opponent of the deal. All the other smaller players signed already a 10 year deal with Microsoft.

@Great-Z Sony is also Microsoft’s only competitor in the performance console market.

And while Sony dominates this market in certain parts of the world, in the U.S. it’s a much narrower lead and that’s why the regulatory scrutiny is warranted.

Certainly ATVI is worth more than $95 a share at this point. I think Microsoft will be looking at $100+ if this deal doesn't close by July 18 and potentially still being on the hook for the $2 billion payout.

@HowDareYou I assume if both MS & Activision decide they’re likely to win the lawsuit, the artificial July 18th deadline will just get extended.

If the deal is called off, the sexual harassment & toxic workplace lawsuits will likely resurface, and most of the $2 billion will go towards that.

FTC is also under investigation by the senate over corruption, ethics, and moral related issues. Oh the irony of criminal enterprises litigating in court :)

@HowDareYou The current administration and unelected bureaucracy is rotten to the core. I can't think of a single agency/department head that isn't either completely incompetent and/or actively working to make things worse in this country. Lloyd Austin, Anthony Blinken, Gary Gensler, Jennifer Granholm, Lina Khan, Merrick Garland, Janet Yellen, Pete Buttigieg, Alejandro Mayorkas, Xavier Becerra...the list goes on and on...
H
@SartorResartus biggest problem in government is how much power these unelected agencies have over our lives.
J
@SartorResartus Just the current administration? More like all. Haha

Not quite as exciting as Celebrity Deathmatch, but it's close!
