As always, Crouch was on top form and shared a hilarious story of an exchange between Clancy and Dettori on a past trip to Royal Ascot, that left the former England striker in with his head in his hands.

“I was there a couple of years ago,” said Crouch. “I went with Abbey, my wife and I remember Frankie Dettori came up to the boxes. I think there were six in a row a few years back.

“I remember him coming up and my missus – she’s not into sport or anything – and she's like ‘Oh Frankie what are you doing here?’ because we know him a little bit.

“He was like, ‘Well I’m racing!”

Crouch was left red-faced after his wife’s blunder leaving him, McCoist and Brazil in hysterics on air on Thursday.

Crouch is known for his brilliant anecdotes and now fans can see more of the much-loved former Premier League star.

A film about his life launches on Thursday on Amazon Prime Video which outlines his defining moments, struggles and the time he met wife Abbey.

Entitled ‘That Peter Crouch Film’ the Premier League’s tallest-ever player made over 460 appearances and clocked up 42 caps for the Three Lions.

Speaking about the film’s release, Crouch said: “When I was a teenager, or even a player, I’d have laughed you out of the room if you’d told me that I would have a film made about my career in football!

“But here we are and I’m so proud of what Workerbee and Prime Video have created. It’s an honour that this film has been made and hopefully it brings a smile to people’s faces.”
