Rash driving: Bus driver booked

Mangaluru: A woman had a narrow escape from a speeding private bus at Thoudugoli Cross in Ullal near Mangaluru. The incident which occurred on Tuesday was captured on a CCTV camera and was widely circulated on social media on Wednesday. The video shows the bus approaching the junction at a high speed and honking repeatedly, while the woman was crossing the road without checking for oncoming vehicles. Luckily, the driver managed to bring the vehicle to a grinding halt just a few meters away from the woman.
Acting swiftly, the Mangaluru city police booked the bus driver Thyagaraj for rash and negligent driving and also seized the vehicle. He was also fined for using a shrill horn. The private bus was on its way to Mangaluru from Mudipu. A case has been registered under IPC sections 279, 336. TNN
