Flood situation in Assam’s Nalbari; village submerges in waist-deep water amid continuous rainfall

Saving whatever is left of their stuff, the people in Assam’s Nalbari were seen taking out their belongings from their flooded residences in waist-deep water on June 22. With the state witnessing continuous rainfall, Nalbari is half submerged in flood water, leading to heavy property damage. The people in efforts to save their belongings and cattle, were seen commuting to safer places. The fear of loss and displacement until the situation turns normal, was clearly visible on their faces. The locals facing the ordeal, also narrated the situation. “It was fine until the morning, but then the flood took our house suddenly. There is a lot of water inside the house. We took out most of the stuff from the house,” a local said.“We heard that water was coming from Bhutan. The water stated increasing since the morning. The water is still increasing. Some of the stuff was left inside while some is whit hut. No once came to see the station. Around 200 to 300 families would have been affected,” another said.
