Gold powder caught from underwear

Surat: In an unusual incident, custom officials encountered new method of smuggling gold in powder form in the underwear, corners of trolley bag and leather waist belt buckle.
A total of 922 gram gold, worth Rs 60 lakh was recovered from the accused at Surat airport on arrival from Sharjah.
The investigation was based on specific information from the Ahmedabad customs. According to the officials, it was the first time they came across the modus operandi of storing gold powder in tiny pockets in the underwear. The belt buckle was also coated with polish to give it an impression of fake metal. tnn
