On the run for a year, woman PO arrested
Ludhiana: Wanted by the Special Task Force (Ludhiana Range), a proclaimed offender was arrested on Wednesday. The STF recovered 258g heroin, 285g opium and Rs 6.26 lakh drug money from her possession.
The arrested accused was identified as Alisha Chopra alias Pooja Chopra (28) of Gurmail Park, Tibba road. Her husband Akash Chopra was arrested on June 22, 2022 for drug peddling, but Alisha had managed to escape. DSP (STF) Davinder Chaudhary said a team led by inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge STF (Ludhiana range), arrested Alisha from Gurmail park following a tip-off as she was hiding in the house of her father-in-law. The STF received information that she was going to deliver the consignment of drugs.
Inspector Harbans Singh said during questioning, the woman informed that after the arrest of her husband, she had fled to Nepal and returned to Ludhiana a few days ago.
The police had also booked Alisha’s brother-in law (husband’s brother) Sahlu Chopra for drug peddling.
