Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 09:59AM

Aro Granite Industries(up 2.27%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.92%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 0.85%), Oriental Trimex(up 0.80%), KIOCL(up 0.64%), Coal India(up 0.42%), Lexus Granito(up 0.37%), Ashapura Minechem(up 0.29%) and NMDC Ltd(up 0.09%) were among the top gainers.

Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 3.66%), 20 Microns(down 0.64%), Pokarna(down 0.33%) and MOIL(down 0.33%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 7.5 points down at 18849.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 54.58 points at 63468.57 at around 09:59AM.

HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.15%), ICICI Bank(up 0.9%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.82%), Eicher Motors(up 0.72%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.55%), Hindalco Industries(up 0.44%), HDFC Bank(up 0.42%), HDFC(up 0.41%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.41%) and Hero MotoCorp(up 0.41%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Steel(down 1.84%), Infosys(down 1.33%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.29%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.16%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.0%), NTPC(down 0.8%), Wipro(down 0.79%), HCL Technologies(down 0.69%), Nestle India(down 0.67%) and IndusInd Bank(down 0.66%) were trading in the red.
