3 dead, 1 injured as 2 bikes fall into canal in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district

VARANASI: Three youths died while one other suffered grave injuries when two motorcycles fell into a canal near Kubri Patehara area under Santnagar police station of Mirzapur district late on Wednesday.
CO Lalganj Manjari Rai on Thursday said that Pramod Rai (21), Manish (20) and Rambabu (21) of Manihan area died in the accident while the other motorcycle rider namely Janki was admitted to divisional hospital. All three bodies were sent for post-mortem, she added.
Police said that Pramod, Manish and Rambabu had gone to Patehara area to attend the marriage of their friend Raju on Wednesday evening. After taking part in the function, they left for home on a motorcycle. While passing through Kubri Patehara, they failed to notice the canal and fell into it with their motorcycle around midnight.
The incident came to light when another motorcycle rider Janaki also fell into the same canal and noticed three youths lying in a pool of blood. Despite suffering injuries, Janaki alerted the police on phone. The cops took all the injured persons to a hospital where Pramod and Manish were declared brought dead.
Rambabu and Janaki were referred to a divisional hospital. But, Rambabu also succumbed to injuries during treatment.
