HYDERABAD: A software engineer of a multi-national company was attacked with a knife by a jilted lover at Narsingi on Tuesday night. The 27-year-old accused, who is the maternal uncle of the 22-year-old woman, has been working in the city as a food delivery executive. It was the accused who had himself alerted the cops after attacking the woman.
At 9.40 pm on Tuesday, Narsingi police patrolling team were informed by Gachibowli police about a woman being stabbed by a man behind T Grill Hotel in Puppalaguda. Constable B Satish and home guard Ramesh, who reached the spot, found a woman with bleeding injuries. The alleged attacker was also present at the spot. Police rushed the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment and took the offender into custody.
The woman, who stays at a hostel in Indira Nagar, Gachibowli, told cops that they are both from AP and she had earlier rejected her uncle’s proposal to marry her.
On Tuesday night the accused went to the woman’s hostel and picked her up on his bike saying he wanted to talk to her about personal matters, police said. He stopped the vehicle behind T Grill hotel in Puppalaguda and proposed to her again. The victim once again rejected the proposal, cops said.
“Suspecting that she was in love with someone else, the accused pulled out a knife from his backpack and attacked her. She suffered multiple injuries on her neck, cheek and hands. She is undergoing treatment at the hospital and her condition is out of danger,” Narsingi inspector V Shiva Kumar said.
The accused has been arrested under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder).
