Watch Coast Guard press conference live: Officials share updates on missing Titanic sub

The U.S. Coast Guard will hold another briefing Wednesday afternoon about the submersible carrying five people to the wreckage site of the Titanic that went missing Sunday.

The press briefing will begin at 1 p.m. ET, and you can watch live at the embed at the top of the page or on USA TODAY's YouTube channel. The full briefing will also be posted on the Defense Media Activity's website, the communications and news arm from the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard said.

First Coast Guard District response coordinator Capt. Jamie Frederick is scheduled to lead the briefing at the Coast Guard base in Boston., according to a release.

Both the Coast Guard and a Canadian maritime patrol aircraft are continuing their search for the submersible, named the Titan, which vanished into the North Atlantic Ocean. It had a 96-hour oxygen supply when it set out around 6 a.m. Sunday. As of 1 p.m. ET Tuesday, there were around 40 hours of breathable air left, the Coast Guard said, meaning oxygen supply could be depleted by Thursday morning.

The Coast Guard announced early Wednesday that a Canadian aircraft heard "underwater noises in the search area," which prompted vehicle operations to search for the origins of the noises.
