KAMALAPUR: A class 6 student fleeing a pack of stray dogs was mowed down by a tractor in Marripalligudem village in Hanumakonda district on Tuesday. The 11-year-old boy, E Dhanush, slipped out of the crowded government school premises, where education day celebrations were being held, to buy biscuits from a bakery around noon. When the canines charged at him, Dhanush swiftly turned around and ran towards the school campus. Before he could find his balance, he was tossed under the wheels of a speeding tractor and died on the spot.
Kamalapur inspector, B Sanjeev, said the body was sent to MGM Hospital, Warangal, for autopsy and the tractor driver booked for causing death by rash act and arrested.
Dhanush's parents, Jaipal and Swapna, were inconsolable. The couple had lost both their children in a span of a few years. A pall of gloom descended on the village in Kamalapur mandal and villagers thronged the couple's home to console and mourn. BRS MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy visited the family and assured government support to them.
