Mats out as Ranchi warms up to host several events
Ranchi: Government departments, educational institutions and other organisations have lined up a slew of sessions to mark International Yoga Day on Wednesday.
Chief minister Hemant Soren, health minister Banna Gupta, public representatives and other dignitaries will take part in the state-level programme to be held at Mecon stadium. Around 4,000 people are expected to participate in the event, which is scheduled to start at 6 am.
Ranchi University on Tuesday organised a yoga awareness rally, elocution, essay writing and painting competitions. RU registrar Dr Mukund Chandra Mehta said that everyone should perform yoga and inspire others to do the same.
The winners of the competitions would be felicitated at a function at RU Dikshant Mandap on Wednesday morning. The yoga department students would present a drill during the function.
The Central Reserve Police Force Jharkhand sector has issued instruction to all its battalions and units across the state to celebrate the day. CRPF official Dheeraj Kumar said that officials and jawans would also take part in programme at the organisation’s state headquarters.
The Arogya Naturopathy and Yoga Centre will organise programmes at Piska More, Nirankari Satsang Bhavan and Judge Colony from 6 am to 7 am.

The Natraj Institute of Yoga will also host yoga for about 250 people at the Morabadi Ground and Pahari Mandir from 6 am to 7 am. In addition, it will also hold a workshop for youngsters where it will discuss advanced yoga asanas while following protocols.
Jagdish Singh, a yoga instructor at state yoga school, Ranchi said, “Our institution started seven-day celebrations on June 15. Yoga practice in the morning and writing and drawing contests were organised. All the events in run up to the day will end on Wednesday.”
