Rath Yatra: 5,500+ vehicles roll out of Ahmedabad showrooms
Over 5,500 vehicles, including two- and fourwheelers, drove out of automobile showrooms in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
The auspicious muhurat of Rath Yatra brought great delight to vehicle dealers across Ahmedabad as they recorded a good rise in sales driven by consumer euphoria.
Over 5,500 vehicles, including two- and fourwheelers, drove out of automobile showrooms in Ahmedabad on Tuesday — up 45% against sales made on Rath Yatra last year. The estimates were provided by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (FADA), Gujarat.
The vehicles sold on the muhurat day include around 3,800 twowheelers and 1,800 four-wheelers; the increase in numbers was driven by buoyant demand and bumper offers made by automobile dealers. “The two-wheeler sales have particularly done well this year.
The Covid blues have finally left the two-wheeler market. The reopening of schools and colleges has improved disposable incomes and better offers on vehicles have kept the demand upbeat this time around. Overall, two-wheelers clocked 60% growth compared to last year,” explained Pranav Shah, ex-chairman, FADA – Gujarat.
On the other hand, the demand for new cars remained upbeat but the growth was comparatively flat. “The market has seen ample consolidation due to higher numbers in the past two years driven by pent-up demand for cars,” he further added. Ahmedabad accounts for at least 50% of the vehicle sales registered on Rath Yatra day, according to sources.
