Man gets 2-yr jail, Rs 2k fine for taking Rs 1500 bribe in 2010

ROURKELA: The headmaster of a government primary school in Sundargarh district was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 by a vigilance court for demanding and accepting Rs 1,500 bribe, 13 years back.
Maheswar Tandia (50), a native of Chhotbanga, was a teacher attached to the office of sub-inspector of school in Bargaon block of Sundargarh district. He was arrested in 2010 for accepting a bribe of Rs 1500 from one Mrutunjaya Pruseth for processing the pension papers of his late father. He had been later released on bail.
