PRAYAGRAJ: After suspending direct flight from Prayagraj to Kolkata for around two years, preparations are on to restart a direct flight from city to Kolkata.
From July 3, direct flight for Kolkata will be available for air passengers from the Civil Enclave located at Bamrauli, also known as Prayagraj Airport. Alliance Air would be operating this flight, the schedule of which has been released. The flight had already received approval from the DGCA and would operate twice a week, every Monday and Friday.
As per the schedule, the flight will take off from Prayagraj for Kolkata on July 3 at 12.25 pm and reach Kolkata at 2.10 pm. In its return journey, the aircraft will fly from Kolkata to Prayagraj at 2.35 pm and arrive here at 4.15 pm. The same aircraft will fly to Delhi at 4.40 pm from Prayagraj airport.
Alliance Air has kept its minimum fare at Rs 4,215. There will be 72 seats in this ATR class aircraft.
Earlier IndiGo operated flights from Prayagraj to Kolkata. Later this fight was stopped. For many months, there was a demand to restart this flight as this serves as door for to North Eastern states. There are many students and service personnel who have to travel to NE states and have to depend only on the rail route in the absence of any direct flight. Presently, Prayagraj Airport has air connectivity to 11 cities where IndiGo and Alliance Air provide their air services.
