The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory owing to waterlogging caused by the rains that hit the national capital on Wednesday. The government body has informed that the traffic is affected on the carriageway from Dhansa stand towards Bahadurgarh stand due to waterlogging and advised the commuters to avoid it.

The traffic police also said that the carriageway between Pusta Road and Karkari Mor would be closed for a month due to sewer cleaning work being carried out by the civic body.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Delhi Traffic Police wrote, “Movement of traffic has been closed in the carriageway from Pusta Road towards Karkari Mor for one month due to drain cleaning work being carried out by Civic Agency. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly."

The Delhi-NCR region woke up to light to moderate rainfall in the morning of 21 June, providing a much-needed respite from the scorching heat. However, the rains have caused a lot of inconvenience to the people in several areas of the region, including Gurugram, where cases of severe water logging has been reported.

The Gurugram Traffic Police confirmed the reports of waterlogging in a tweet on Wednesday, saying, “Water logging has been reported on NH-48 near Narsinghpur towards Jaipur. Our traffic officials are on the spot to facilitate the traffic flow. Commuters are requested to plan their travel accordingly."

Meanwhile, visuals shared by news agency ANI show roads in Gurugram submerged in water due to severe waterlogging. The footage shows commuters carrying their vehicles on foot in knee-deep water. News agency PTI also reported massive traffic jams in the city due to waterlogging caused by the rains.

Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) has predicted thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated places in Delhi including Bawana, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Palam IGI Airport.
