Conservatives howl, but it turns out the Academy Awards’ requirements can be met by hiring interns and marketers.

The Academy Award for Best Picture will be subject to a diversity, equity and inclusion veto—or so say a lot of people who haven’t read the fine print. Starting this year, they believe, unless one of the movie’s main characters is a member of a minority group, the work can’t be considered for the film industry’s highest honor. “The Godfather,” “Chariots of Fire,” “Schindler’s List”—none supposedly would make the grade.
