Canada-based BCI Foods Inc. is recalling around 13,561 pounds of chicken noodle soup products that were not presented for import reinspection into the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS announced.
The recall involves 10.5-oz can of "tasty KITCHEN Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup PRODUCT OF CANADA 45% LESS SODIUM THAN THE REGULAR TASTY KITCHEN CHICKEN NOODLE CONDENSED SOUP". It comes with best before dates of 2024 NO 01 and 2024 NO 09 and lot codes 76222305 and 76222313.
The company has also called back 10.5-oz can of "tasty KITCHEN Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup" with a best before date of 2024 NO 07 and lot code 59222311.
The affected products bear Canadian establishment number EST. 142 printed on the can. These items were shipped to distributors in California, Michigan, Minnesota and Tennessee.
The recall was initiated after the FSIS was notified by an import broker that canned chicken soup products imported from Canada were not presented for FSIS import reinspection.
However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products to date.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' pantries, and urged them to throw away the products or return them to the place of purchase.
In recent recalls announced by FSIS, branded food company Conagra Brands Inc. called back around 2,717 pounds of frozen beef shepherd's pie products citing possible contamination with extraneous materials, specifically clear, flexible plastic.
Johnsonville, LLC recently recalled around 42,062 pounds of ready-to-eat or RTE "Beddar with Cheddar" pork sausage links for the possible contamination with very thin strands of black plastic fibers.
