China’s Slow Road Back to Growth

The new economic stimulus will be a far cry from 2008. Good.

Beijing in recent days has made clear that an economic stimulus is on the way—and investors are disappointed that it’s likely to be modest. That’s for the best since China needs productive growth more than it needs another credit bonanza. But this highlights the problems facing President Xi Jinping—many of his own making.
