Monsoon Tracker: Southwest monsoon further advances; IMD predicts heavy rains in these states. See full forecast here

Favorable conditions for Southwest Monsoon over parts of India, with light rainfall in Delhi and thunderstorms predicted. Heavy rainfall predicted in various regions.

The India Meteorological Department said that conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh which were reeling under heat wave.

Today morning, parts of Delhi received light rainfall and brought a little respite from the scorching heat. Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) predicted a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi.

"21/06/2023: 05:45 IST; Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi ( Bawana, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Palam IGI Airport), NCR ( Bahadurgarh)," tweeted RWFC.

The meteorological department in Himachal Pradesh has predicted light to moderate rainfall at a few places in the mid-hills and light rain or snowfall at isolated places in the higher hills from 21-24 June. For 24 June, Met department has also issued a 'yellow' warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh.

Northeast & adjoining East India:

IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 19-21 June.

The weather office has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall also over Bihar, Jharkhand on 21st and 22nd June; Gangetic West Bengal on 19th, 21st & 22nd June and Odisha during 21st-23rd June.

Northwest & adjoining Central India:

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning has been predicted over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and isolated to scattered rainfall over plains of Northwest India during next three days.

Heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand on 22nd and 23rd June.

South India:

IMD has predicted isolated Heavy rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 19th--21st June.
