Mysuru: For the first time in the recent past, the state government downgraded the post of the IGP (Southern Range) and posted a DIG-rank officer on Tuesday.
M B Boralingaiah, a 2008-batch IPS officer, is posted in the latest reshuffling of IPS officers in the state. Boralingaiah is currently serving as Belagavi city police commissioner.
Incumbent Pravin Madhukar Pawar, a 2003-batch IPS officer, is posted as IGP (Criminal Investigation Department).
The previous government had downgraded the post of the commissioner of police of Mysuru city, an IGP-rank post, twice and posted DIG-rank officers. The post of Southern Range is headed by an IGP-rank officer, and it has now been downgraded to DIG (Southern Range) by the government for the first time.
Wonderful experience: PawarPawar said that he served in the post for two-and-a-half years, and it was a wonderful experience. He had the opportunity to conduct recruitment and maintain law and order and manage traffic in the range covering five districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, and Kodagu.
