West Ham are keen on signing Scott McTominay as they prepare for life without Declan Rice, talkSPORT understands.
The Hammers are in the market for a central midfielder with Rice expected to have played his last game for the club.
McTominay has been told that he's allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to the next stage in evolution of his Manchester United side.
As well as offloading the Scottish midfielder, it could include bringing Rice the other way.
The Telegraph are reporting that the Red Devils are willing to offer McTominay or Harry Maguire in part-exchange for Rice.
The England midfielder is attracting significant interest this summer with Arsenal leading the chase to sign the 24-year-old.
The Gunners have already seen two bids rejected, the second of those worth £90million as the Hammers hold out for a higher fee.
Manchester City are also keen, while Man United are interested in a deal should they be able to find a creative way to fund the deal.
With McTominay firmly on West Ham's radar, it could be a way to ensure that David Moyes' side aren't left with the significant challenge of replacing Rice, should he move elsewhere.
McTominay will be allowed to leave Man United, but could stick around with the Red Devils more keen to offload Fred, a player who has just one year left on his contract.
