NU students’ cup of woes runneth over

Nagpur: The top brass of Nagpur University (NU) seems to be completely clueless about the impeding problems faced by students, colleges and parents during their ongoing summer exams and the admission season as well.
The university’s exam section has miserably failed to ensure smooth and timely conduct of exams and the announcement of results.

Every day, students are forced to run pillar to post for issues like hall tickets, exam timetable, marklist, online registration for admission to undergraduate courses and discrepancies in results.
On the other hand, the college section too appears ill-prepared for initiating the online common admission process for undergraduates through the university’s website.
Initially, the NU portal did not permit registration for students who are yet to complete 18 years of age or lack a voter ID card.
Even as the exam section continues to be slammed for announcing timetables without keeping the 90-day teaching period in mind, complaints of goof-ups in revaluation results and missing hall tickets have emerged.
The exam section is rushing with summer exams and declaration of results, many passed students were failed and failed students passed after revaluation results. Some are in a dilemma as their plans for higher education are in a spot because of poor planning by the exam section.
Senate member Manmohan Bajpai said the administration has degraded in the last two years, holding both Chaudhari and Sabale responsible. “Exams and results are in a complete mess. Some students did not get their marksheets. Final-year students are in a bigger mess because their future plans are at risk. This is the worst situation in the last 10 to 15 years in NU. The root cause is MKCL which was brought in by the VC,” he said.
NU vice chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and director of the board of examination and evaluation Prafulla Sabale did not respond to calls made by TOI.
