Cops crack girl’s murder case; man, son arrested
Varanasi: The Bhadohi police on Tuesday cracked the 2022 murder case, in which a 14-year-old girl was killed by her father and brother over a love affair and arrested the two accused of Chakia Gird Court area under Handia police station in Prayagraj district.
Police sources said before the duo confessed that they had killed the minor girl as she was adamant about marrying a youth she loved, another couple had claimed the body was of their missing daughter. The couple had lodged an FIR against two of their enemies, who were sent to jail. However, the couple’s daughter was later found alive in NCR. Thereafter, the couple was sent to jail for lodging a fake case and misleading police.
SP Bhadohi Anil Kumar said the Unj police on Tuesday arrested Arvind Kumar Bind (40) and his son Amit (19). Confessing his crime, Arvind said his daughter loved a youth in their neighbourhood and wanted to marry him. Upset over it, Arvind and Amit murdered her on May 20, 2022 and took the body stashed in a gunny bag to Mohanpur village under Unj police station in Bhadohi district to dump it in a well. On May 27, 2022 Mohanpur locals spotted the body inside the well and raised an alarm.
ASP Bhadohi Rajesh Bharti said after recovery of the body, one Shyam Kishore Pandey of Shikhapur village and his wife turned up before police and claimed the body to be of their missing daughter. Pandey lodged a complaint against two persons, with whom he had old enmity, following which the two were sent to jail. However, the couple came under police radar when their blood samples did not match with the samples collected from the body for DNA test. The ASP said in February this year, Pandey’s daughter was found alive in Greater Noida, after which the couple was arrested and sent to jail on charges of misleading police and false implication of innocent people and cheating.
Following the developments, Bhadohi cops intensified the investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased girl. Bharti said when it came to light that Arvind's daughter was missing, his blood sample was sent for DNA test. When the DNAs matched, police detained Arvind and during interrogation, he confessed his crime.
