BJP Vs Congress war erupts after Gita Press conferred Gandhi Peace Prize 2021

Gita Press to be conferred with Gandhi Peace Prize 2021 on June 18. BJP-Congress are at loggerheads after Govt’s decision to award Gita Press. Congress Leader Jairam Ramesh criticised the Centre’s decision. He said that Govt’s decision is like awarding Savarkar and Godse”. Similarly, Kerala Congress lashed out at the Centre’s decision to award Gita Press. Congress cited Akshaya Mukul’s book which described the publisher as "propagators of Sangh ideology". BJP fumed at Congress and said that India’s ‘grand old party’ is practising “politics of appeasement”. Apart from BJP, Congress leader Acharya Pramod also criticised Jairam Ramesh’s remark and called it “anti-Hindu mentality”. Meanwhile, amid the controversy, the publisher refused to accept the cash component of Gandhi Peace Award
