Who would get history sheet numbersonce synonymous with Atiq & Ashraf?
Prayagraj: Who will be allotted history sheet numbers HS 39 A and HS 93 A that were once opened on the names of the slain mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf with Khuldabad police station?
With the gangster brothers dead, their history sheets will be closed once and for all. Now, police are updating the dossier on inter-state (IS) 227 Atiq Ahmed gang and are likely to add 48 more names on the list. But the big question is what will happen to the history sheet numbers that became synonymous with the duo.
The Khuldabad police had opened and maintained history sheet of Atiq under HS 39 A and that of Ashraf under HS 93 A.
Atiq had a total of 104 criminal cases while Ashraf had 52 criminal cases registered against him in different police stations of the state. Both were gunned down by a group of assailants inside the campus of Colvin hospital on April 15.
Sources told TOI, that officials of Prayagraj police commissionerate are currently reviewing and updating the dossier of the IS-227 gang that was once headed by Atiq.
The gang currently has 121 members.
Sources added that police are also compiling whereabouts of other gang members whether they were bailed out or lodged at different jails of country.
As many as names of 48 people, including sympathizers, are likely to be included into the list.

A senior cop preferring anonymity told TOI, “An exercise was underway to find out the current whereabouts of members of Atiq gang and raids are being carried out to nab them.”
Official pointed out that over 18 key operatives of gang were arrested by police in the past five months and cops have been looking for those who had supported the gang directly or indirectly.
Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen was not included on the list of IS-227 gang despite being named as an accused in the lawyer Umesh Pal and two of his police gunners’ murder case.
