KALYAN: The molestation case filed against Nandu Joshi, a BJP office bearer, by a policeman's wife in Dombivli has been transferred from the local Manpada police station to the Crime Branch.
The woman, in her recent complaint, alleged that Joshi had coerced her into vacating her flat and had repeatedly demanded sexual favours from her.
After the FIR was filed, the BJP staged a protest outside the police station, blaming Senior Police Inspector Shekhar Bagade for deliberately registering the FIR against Joshi. They demanded Bagade's transfer from the police station, and as a result of their protest, Bagade was sent on compulsory leave.
In the midst of these developments, the victim woman has been protesting outside the police station for over 10 days, demanding Joshi's arrest. She claims that local BJP leaders are protecting Joshi and pressuring the police not to arrest him.
On Tuesday, the Thane police transferred the case from the local Manpada police station to the Crime Branch. Sachin Gunjal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3 of the Thane police, confirmed this development to TOI.
