MC lauds resident for turning wet waste into compost
Ludhiana: To encourage city residents to manage garbage sustainably, municipal corporation joint commissioner Sonam Chaudhary and other officials visited the house of city resident Rajinder Singh Kalra, who has been converting the wet household waste into compost and using the same to nurture plants.
Kalra, a resident of Bank Colony in Ward Number 25, has been converting wet waste into compost using different techniques for years now.
During her visit Chaudhary said, “Under the ‘Mera Shehar, Mera Maan’ campaign, the MC has been urging the residents to segregate wet and dry waste in their respective homes and convert the wet waste into compost. Rajinder Singh Kalra has set an example for others.”
Zone A team of MC health branch organised an awareness drive, urging residents to convert wet waste into compost. The civic body team also distributed around 200 bags of organic compost among the residents and felicitated Vipra Kale, who has also been converting household wet waste into compost for years.
