The NSE Nifty index closed 61.25 points up at 18816.7, while BSE Sensex ended up 159.4 points at 63327.7.
On the other hand, Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 1.36 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.98 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
