AgenciesNEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 1.13 per cent), Lupin(up 0.58 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.54 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.49 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Pfizer(down 1.14 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.98 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 0.55 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 0.53 per cent) and Sanofi India(down 0.52 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.19 per cent down at 13238.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 61.25 points at 18816.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 159.4 points at 63327.7.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and Alok Industries were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Subros, Mindteck India, Keerti Knowledge, Oil Country Tub and CSL Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Zee Ent., Rachana Infrastructu, Quality Foils(India, Kore Digital and M K Proteins hit their fresh 52-week lows.
