IDFCBANK(up 1.72 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.08 per cent), Federal Bank(up 0.16 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.03 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Bandhan Bank(down 0.86 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 0.71 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 0.63 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.41 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.39 per cent at 43462.1 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 58.95 points at 18696.5, while the BSE Sensex was down 242.48 points at 62925.82.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.
Shares of Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries and Central Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Subros, Keerti Knowledge, Oil Country Tub, Crest Ventures and Peninsula Land hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rachana Infrastructu, Sahana System, Kore Digital, Reliance Comm and Viji Finance hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
