Singer Taylor Swift, one of the most famous pop stars in the world, has made history. The American singer-songwriter became the first female artist to have more than 91 million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform Spotify.
The 33-year-old's eighth album 'Folklore' has alone crossed 5 billion streams on Spotify. Now, Swift's five albums - 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017), Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), and Midnights (2022) have more than five billion streams on the music platform.
The Forbes magazine predicted that Swift's 'The Eras Tour' - the first tour in five years - is expected to generate $4.6 billion for the US economy.
At the beginning of the year, she had 10 billion streams on the platform, which has now reached 91,166,294 monthly listeners, making her the fastest-growing artist to do so.
According to a Los Angeles Times report, Swift's song 'Snow on the Beach' (feat. More Lana Del Rey) has made it to the 40-best songs list of 2023 so far.
Meanwhile, the music streaming platform recently started testing a new feature 'Your Offline Mix', a playlist designed for users when they might not be online but still wants to listen to their favourite playlist.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek made the announcement on Twitter but didn't share further details. It's also unclear when the company intends to release the feature.
According to the screenshot, these playlists generate on their own based on the multiple hours of listening. This feature will come in handy when users are planning to board a flight and have forgotten to download music.
Meanwhile, Spotify has started rolling out its artificial intelligence (AI) feature called 'DJ' for premium customers in the UK and Ireland. This feature was first made available to premium subscribers in the US and Canada in February.
The feature is still in beta and is powered by OpenAI's technology.
