BENGALURU: Congress on Monday filed a police complaint against BJP chief JP Nadda, the party's IT cell chief Amit Malviya and Arun Sood, the president of BJP Chandigarh unit, for what it claimed as dissemination of "malicious, false and incendiary content" against the Congress party and its senior leaders - primarily former party president Rahul Gandhi.
Priyank Kharge, the RDPR and IT minister and Ramesh Babu, party spokesperson, who visited the High Grounds Police Station in the city on Monday, alleged that the BJP leaders were spreading information with the "intention to promote enmity between groups and incite as well as provoke" offences.
Congress leaders furnished clippings from the 3D animated video circulated from Malviya's twitter handle on June 17, 2023, which they claimed were "malicious" and "false". In their complaint, the Congress leaders accused the BJP leadership of depicting Rahul as having an "anti-national objective aimed to deter India's ascension as a global economic power house" by presenting a "foreign voice-over".
Video features altered versions of Rahul Gandhi's speeches, propagating false narratives: Plaint
It is pertinent to mention that the video employs mimicry to misrepresent Rahul Gandhi and the INC's [Indian National Congress] views and projects the party as well as the leaders as anti-national elements. It features altered versions of Rahul Gandhi's speeches, propagating false narratives," the complaint said.
The complaint also said "the video alleges Rahul Gandhi's and INC's association with 'international media' as part of the plot to dismantle India, showcasing newspapers with headlines spreading the 'anti-India narrative' and depicting the rise of 'Hindu extremism'".

It said: "The video showcases an inflammatory score, a distortion of the song 'Govinda' from the movie 'Sarkar' (2005). The lyrics have been altered to 'Todunga' (I will break), aiming to provoke and stir communal sentiments, a tactic that is morally repugnant and legally impermissible," the Congress complaint read.
