COVID-19 is on the verge of becoming endemic, but Indian experts are keeping a careful eye on each new version and the government will remain on high alert, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasising that the virus has survived and will remain.

In an interview, the minister stated that the situation is currently stable after more than three years of one of the world's deadliest pandemics, but that all essential precautions will be taken to protect against any variety that may be fatal.

The fatal virus was discovered in late 2019 in China, and the first case in India was reported in late January 2020. Since then, about 4.5 crore positive cases have been reported in India, with over five lakh people dying in numerous waves.

However, the caseload has decreased dramatically in recent months, and the number of current cases is presently under 1,800, with an overall recovery rate of close to 99 per cent and a death rate of roughly 1 per cent.

Modi in US: How PM's state visit to the US will be beneficial to India

Modi will be in the United States from 21 June to 24 June, leading Yoga Day festivities at the United Nations headquarters and meeting with the US president as well as significant representatives of US society, including addressing a joint session of the US Congress. Modi will fly from Washington to Cairo on June 25, where he will strengthen New Delhi's ties with Egypt.

And Washington is preparing a red carpet welcome for Prime Minister Modi. There will be a state dinner, the Biden administration's third such visit this year after visiting French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought Indian culture and traditions to the global scene through International Yoga Day, which is observed on 21 June throughout the world.

Notably, Prime Minister Modi will lead the Yoga Day festivities on Wednesday on the lawns of the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Shah told a gathering here that PM Modi transformed Yoga into a public movement that has benefitted many people.

Modi has become the first head of state to conduct the Yoga Day festivities at the United Nations, he added.

PM Modi used Yoga Day to introduce Indian culture and customs to the rest of the globe. On June 21, the entire globe celebrates Yoga, which is observed in 170 nations, said Shah, who was inaugurating a public park in the city's Shilaj district.

'Unprecedented trust' between leaders of US, India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said ties between India and the US are stronger and deeper than ever, and asserted that there is an "unprecedented trust" between the leaders of the two countries.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal before of his first state visit to the United States, Modi stated, "India deserves a much higher, deeper, and wider profile and role."

Talking about the India-China relationship, Modi said peace and tranquillity in the border areas are essential for normal bilateral ties.

"We have a core belief in respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, observing the rule of law and peaceful resolution of differences and disputes. At the same time, India is fully prepared and committed to protect its sovereignty and dignity," Modi told the US newspaper.

He said ties between New Delhi and Washington are stronger and deeper than ever.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for the United States on Tuesday for his first historic State visit.

US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden invited PM Modi. The Prime Minister will begin his journey in New York, where he will lead the festivities of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.

PM Modi will then go to Washington, DC, for a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22 and a meeting with President Biden to continue their high-level engagement. According to an announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will hold a State Dinner in honour of the Prime Minister the same evening. The PM will also address a Joint Sitting of the US Congress on June 22.

The invitation to deliver such a historic speech was extended by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, demonstrating bipartisan support and respect for Prime Minister Modi in the United States. He would be the first Indian Prime Minister to address a joint session of the United States Congress twice.
