This week, I take a closer look at how the nation's culture wars are affecting a local institution: Kroger.
Corporate America has offended some by wading into the debate over LGBTQ+ and minority rights in marketing campaigns. But a closer look at shareholder proposals at Kroger’s upcoming annual meeting sheds light on how investors want the grocer to take stands on multiple – and conflicting – issues.
In today's story, I give you the skinny on the latest campaigns shareholders want Kroger to weigh in on. On Thursday, Kroger investors will vote on five issues being put to nonbinding resolutions pitched by activist investors during its upcoming annual meeting.
(Spoiler alert: The company wants them all voted down.)
