According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India is on the side of peace in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal before his historic State visit to the United States, Prime Minister Modi stated that when it comes to the Ukraine issue, "some people say that we are neutral. But we are not impartial. We support the cause of peace."

During his first State visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The Indian Prime Minister, who arrived in the United States on Tuesday morning, will meet with around 24 persons during his three-day tour.

The agenda for Modi and Musk's meeting has not been confirmed, but it comes only days after the billionaire entrepreneur expressed a strong desire to build a major presence in India's dynamic market.

According to sources, Tesla, the most valued vehicle manufacturer, has been aggressively hunting for a suitable location in India for its forthcoming manufacturing and hopes to make a choice this year.

'Unprecedented trust' between leaders of US, India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said ties between India and the US are stronger and deeper than ever, and asserted that there is an "unprecedented trust" between the leaders of the two countries.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal before of his first state visit to the United States, Modi stated, "India deserves a much higher, deeper, and wider profile and role."

Talking about the India-China relationship, Modi said peace and tranquillity in the border areas are essential for normal bilateral ties.

"We have a core belief in respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, observing the rule of law and peaceful resolution of differences and disputes. At the same time, India is fully prepared and committed to protect its sovereignty and dignity," Modi told the US newspaper.

He said ties between New Delhi and Washington are stronger and deeper than ever.

Kejriwal proposes Delhi Cabinet meeting with LG over spurt in crimes

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has written to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena about the "alarming" increase in crime in the national capital.

He also recommended a meeting of the Delhi Cabinet with the LG for a "meaningful discussion" on the subject in the letter dated June 19.

"The seriousness of the situation can be gauged by the heartbreaking fact that four murders have occurred in different parts of Delhi in the last 24 hours," stated the letter.

Kejriwal also emphasised the importance of increased police patrolling, particularly at night, as well as immediate contact with Delhi people on the issue.

"I propose a meeting of my cabinet colleagues with your good self for a meaningful discussion on this important issue," he added.
